Collecting is a practice that likely originated with the beginning of mankind. The Egyptian Ptolemaic Dynasty (305 to 30 B.C.) collected literature from around the known world which made up the Library of Alexandria. During the Renaissance, “cabinet of curiosities” was the term given collections of items from antiques to geological and biological curiosities. Scholars were the main developers of the cabinet of curiosities as it was a means of study, but today, people from all backgrounds have taken to the hobby of collecting. Coins are especially popular among collectors as they each tell a unique story and, if made from some valuable metal, are a store of wealth for future generations.
Coin collectors, also known as numismatists, are some of US Gold Firm’s top clients. Of all the coins that come through our vault, a majority of them are sold to collectors. Particularly popular among them are Pre-33 coins like the $10 Indian and the $20 Saint-Gaudens gold coins. While virtually all 1933 versions of these coins were melted down the year of the gold recall, collectors may purchase them in a range of earlier dates. At USGF, we offer the Seven Saints of Philadelphia collection, a set of seven $20 Saint Gaudens coins all struck at the US Mint in Philadelphia. But coin collectors aren’t limited to Pre-33 coins. USGF also offers a wide selection of modern coin collections. In 2016, we released the Buffalo Stampede set, a boxed collection of $50 Gold Buffalos from the year 2006 to 2016.
Whether your goal is to acquire all the pieces of the Pre-1933 Indian set, the Seven Saints of Philadelphia set, or the Buffalo Stampede set, US Gold Firm is here to bring that goal to fruition.
